With its proximity to Whitehorse along with its extensive collection of northern hoofed animals and its location on the traditional territory of the Ta’an Kwachan and Kwanlin Dun First Nations, the Yukon Wildlife Preserve (YWP) acts as a gateway to the Yukon’s pristine natural environment.  The proposed new complex would enable the YWP to make better use of this exceptional position, by creating opportunities for education, cultural interpretation, tourism, economic development and wildlife management.

The proposed $3,300,000 Interpretive Centre is designed to engage directly with the resources that have made the preserve successful and to create a sustainably designed and integrated facility.  Building orientation maximizes views and solar orientation, while the green roof fully integrates the building into the landscape. The design of the Interpretive Centre provides public and office space which is integrated with the natural surroundings.
