Canada Games Centre

Completed in 2005, the new $32 million Canada Games Centre was the focal point of the 2007 Canada Winter Games held in the City of Whitehorse.  This facility was added to an existing swimming pool designed by Stantec.

The Canada Games Centre features two ice sheets (including one Olympic ice), two indoor soccer fields, elevated running track, meeting rooms, retail and child care facilities.  The building’s energy system harvests waste heat from the ice making plant to heat the water in the existing pool.

KZA shared design responsibilities with Edmonton-based prime consultant Barr/Ryder Architects and Planners (now BR2) for this important community facility.
