TH Working Farm
Kobayashi + Zedda Architects was retained by the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in First Nation (TH) to provide a phased Master Plan for a 37 hectare working and teaching farm located 15 kilometres outside of Dawson City.
The plan was developed based the TH farm foundation (vision, mission, values and goals), team site visits and groundtruthing, and the development of program elements and key program supports. The conceptual site plan includes the following primary zones of activity: farm campus (shown in top left image), growing areas, and sharing and interpretation.
The farm campus is the centralized “hub” of the teaching and working aspects of the TH farm containing the necessary infrastructure for living, learning, teaching, processing and packing.
Growing areas include: production fields, fruit/perennial production, a demonstration garden, and research plots in collaboration with Yukon College.
Natural ammenities on site are enhanced as places of sharing and interpretation, linked by a trail system which provides opportunity for foraging, fishing and recreation.
