City of Whitehorse Operations Building

The new 12,000 m² City of Whitehorse Operations building is designed as the solution to bring the City’s workspaces up to current standards. The program includes an office wing, employee support areas, the city transit services department, and an operations building to house equipment, maintenance workshops and stores.

KZA together with RDHA (formerly Rounthwaite Dick & Hadley Architects) of Toronto, have teamed up to ensure the design is tailored to the local environment to best reach high energy efficiency and low maintenance requirements. The building is designed to perform 84% better than NECB 2011 and includes a 400kW DC photo-voltaic array, the largest installation in the Yukon.
